Buddy Hadden -
Captain
Since 1958 there
has been one constant with the Una Fire Department. That constant is Captain
Buddy Hadden. He is the only founding member of the fire department that is
still a very active volunteer. Buddy
has endured all of the hi's & low's that this fire department has been through
in his 48 years of dedicated service.
Buddy moved up the ranks from
firefighter to Assistant Chief before stepping down in 2000 to his current rank of Captain. When becoming a
volunteer with Una, a new firefighter will learn quickly that he will be able to depend on Captain Hadden to
keep him and the other fire fighters safe at all times.
Any day of the
week, you can visit the fire department and find Buddy ready to fight fire at a
moments notice. He has served many years with this fire department, and this
fire department is looking forward to serving many more with Captain Hadden.
THANK YOU FOR
EVERYTHING YOU DO FOR THIS COMMUNITY, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE FIREFIGHTERS AND THE SUPPORT
TEAM.
For
over a year, Buddy Hadden fought a courageous battle against cancer. At our
annual Christmas Party 2008, Buddy was honored by the Commissioners with
receiving the Commissioners' Award. On February 27th of 2009 Buddy turned 73
years old. Two weeks before Buddy's birthday he fought his last fire with Una at
a house fire on Ethel Road. On March 5th 2009 Buddy was inducted into the
Spartanburg County Fire Fighter's Hall of Fame by the Spartanburg County Fire
Chiefs' Association. On March 8th, 2009 Buddy lost his battle against cancer. On
March 11th, 2009, we laid Buddy to rest. Rest in Peace.
